Hello Colleagues,
I just wanted to share that last week I switched my IL course (German 391: German for Reading Knowledge) over to an open textbook. That means my IL students no longer have to buy a commercial textbook at all. The new textbook is a completely free public website:
https://courses.dcs.wisc.edu/wp/readinggerman/
I also posted a short description of how I went about that project, and how it might be useful to other instructors, at the UW-Madison Teaching Academy website:

If you’re interested in writing and publishing your own open textbook in this fashion, let me know.
