As stated in the previous section, the imperative mood is used for commands. There are two different major types of commands, “you” and “we” commands. “You” commands are given to one or more people, and the subject can also be implied.

  • John, get ready!
  • Pick up the clothes on the floor.

“We” commands are given to a group that includes the speaker. “Let’s” is the clue that you’re dealing with a command:

  • Let’s take a vacation as soon as we can.
  • Let’s stay longer.
